"To think 'Outside the Box' is to see things beyond the norm, to think beyond the limitations of consciousness and experience. To be a visionary".
Outside the Box Music was launched in 2006 and is the creative outlet of Dutchman Eelke Kleijn. Besides being a home base for his own productions, Outside the Box Music aims to release quality music from upcoming as well as established producers. In terms of music the label is as diverse as its name suggests, many releases not being easy to pigeonhole into a certain style but instead cross the conventional borders between them.
With releases and remixes by the likes of Dualtone (Johan Vermeulen / Jermain Hatusupy from Fine Taste & Infinitize), Kosmas Epsilon, Nick Hogendoorn, Roger Martinez, Sebastian Davidson and head-honcho Eelke Kleijn himself, the label has built up a pretty varied sound and identity. DJ Support has come from many different corners, including Hernan Cattaneo, Jimmy van M, Anthony Pappa, Fish Go Deep, Paul van Dyk and Nick Warren. Outside the Box Music is slowly but steadily becoming a well known name in quality house music.

"Dopamine Theory...it's no wonder this guy is fast climbming the ranks, this is no exception. The whole release rocks! Great remix from Yvel & Tristan aswell!" 4.5 / 5.0
"FM/AM is my sleeper favorite on this release with weird, glitchy stabs. Kleijn's own Original mix of Dopamine Theory is solid (though I don't care much for talky vocal samples) and the Yvel & Tristan remix pick it up nicely with a mix that relies on a smooth, juggy bassline and a tight kick." 5.0 / 5.0
"yvel & tristan take on super smoky house track is sublime in its composition, but the title track is far less interesting than FM/AM which has more layers than parfait " 3.5 / 5.0
"Very nice and interesting tech tunes. Dopamine has a cool vocal sample with bouncy percussions and trippy atmosphere. Fm/Am has some cool dark synths to it. Both are melodic tracks. Good stuff for any set. Will support." 4.5 / 5.0
Eelke Kleijn returns to the label with a wicked double A side, already played out by Hernan Cattaneo. Dopamine Theory builds on a repetitive vocal sample; stabs and sounds join in along the way. Although Dopamine Theory becomes melodic at times, the track relies more heavily on percussion and effects than we are used to from the Dutchman. That, however, is what 'Outside the Box' music is all about. This one is already favoured by Nick Warren.
Yvel & Tristan have used some of the original parts and vocals, but definitely took another turn with their version of Dopamine Theory. By introducing new melodies and interpreting the original sounds in a different way, they've manage to create a great addition to the original.
FM / AM on the flip is a bit more minimal, yet with enough variation and layered sounds on top of each other to keep it interesting. After setting the mood in the first 2 to 3 minutes, the track suddenly takes off into another direction, exchanging it's warm pads and stabs for a glitchy peaktime melody and soaring saw leads.
